Last year stunk in more ways than one, but 2020 also offered-up opportunities to pause, reflect, and think about what’s really important. As a team building an analytics tool designed to make marketers’ lives easier, that meant slamming on the brakes, taking a step out of our own shoes, and redefining our approach to customer journey analytics.
Why we did it.
It’s easy to get caught up in the ‘daily grind’—you’re running from meeting to meeting, frantically Slacking and emailing in between, and trying not to forget to feed and take care of yourself. Like many people, we found ourselves and our software in this endless whirlwind. It took a global pandemic for us to realize that.
So we stopped sprinting and sat down together (virtually, of course) to reimagine our solution for customer journey analytics.
Who were we building this for? What features really matter to users? How are we going to plan for the features that haven’t been conceived of yet? When is the right time to overhaul? Where have we come from, and where are we going? Why are we doing this?
Here’s what we did.
Like most things, we approached this visual-first (that is to say, we design the most intuitive, value-adding interface we can, then make the data and backend work to fit it—not the other way around). Here are some of the improvements we worked into this release of Blue Green Analytics.
At the core of Blue Green Analytics is the visualization of customer journeys through a site, so we started there and worked our way out. We improved the way we display these customer journeys and overhauled the way you can filter them.
Even More Intuitive Layout
With a brand-new dashboard and layout, the app is now even more intuitive. Accessibility is improved, searching for pages is easier, and new tool tips are sprinkled throughout to help you without leaving the app.
Improved Data Capture
Let’s not forget about the stuff you can’t see. Under the hood, we made our data capture mechanism and databases more efficient, enhanced querying speed and robustness, and created a substantial foundation for the months and years to come.
There’s plenty more, but I fear losing you if I keep typing, so you’ll have to discover these for yourself.
We’ve poured eight months of loving work into this release, and we hope you’ll join us on this journey to constantly improve. To sign up, head over to bluegreenanalytics.com, or reach out to us at email@example.com (a real human will answer!).
Let’s make 2021 a year of new and better because, let’s be honest, we can all use a fresh start after the last 365.
